Surprise Challenge at the ODBD Forum!

Hello, everyone! Today is the 5th Tuesday of the month, which means "SURPRISE CHALLENGE" over at the ODBD Forum! Since there aren't many months with five Tuesdays, it seems like leap year! :D The 5th Tuesday Surprise Challenge this time around is to use stickers on your card, layout, or altered item. Any type of stickers will do..... 3-d stickers, Magenta or Flower Soft outlines or borders, create your own sticker with a Xyron, pearl or gem stickers, and so on...use your imagination! Come on over and play!!

The stickers I am using are from American Traditional Designs, called "Seashore" I picked these up at the Covered Bridge Festival last year....at the time I didn't know what I would do with them, until Our Daily Bread designs came out with the most awesome stamps for February with an ocean theme! Yay!!

The scene was created by using scratch paper for masking and then the ocean and sky were colored with sponge daubers and ink pads. The sand dune was created by tearing, sponging, and layering two pieces of Crumb Cake cardstock. The sun was sponged inside the punchout of a circle punch. Hubby was proud that I didn't totally fill up the open space....I was tempted to add a bow in the corner, but resisted!!

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'The Sea' (available February 1);
Cardstock: SU Cameo Coral , Crumb Cake, and Whisper White;
Ink: Stazon Timber Brown, SU Cameo Coral, Calypso Coral, Barely Banana, Crumb Cake;
Accessories: 3-d Stickers by American Traditions, Dew Drops, Sponge Daubers, paper piercer and template, foam tape;
Size: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2
.

Thanks for stopping by today! One more day until the ODBD February New Release Blog Hop!!! Have a very blessed day!!

The background paper is Botanical Beauties - Sunflower Sprinkles digital designer paper by My Time Made Easy.....download and print with your color printer...easy peasy and beautiful!!!

The centers of the flowers were colored with a sponge dauber and turquoise ink pad.

Never Stop Going!

Hi everyone! Today I tried something for the first time.....alcohol inks! Thanks to Shirley aka wannabcre8tive, who is the Featured Stamper at Splitcoast this week! Shirley has the most fun gallery, with so many different styles and projects......when I saw her first card using alcohol inks, I knew it was time to open up the package I had bought two years ago and never had to guts to try....until now! Thanks for the inspiration, Shirley!!

I needed a masculine birthday card to mail to a friend tomorrow, so I chose the "Never Give Up" set by Our Daily Bread designs. I just love the grunge sets that came out this month! I chose eggplant and olive alcohol inks, plus a little silver and pearl mixed in, then blended it with the blending solution. I will definitely have to get more colors and practice with different looks. After the background was done, I used Stazon Jet Black to stamp my image, which would have been more prominent, except I am out of re-inker. I colored an extra piece so that I could stamp the Grunge Cross and cut it out with the Grunge Cross Die. I didn't want this card to be too busy, so I just added some piercing and black brads.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs 'Never Give Up' and 'Grunge Cross' matching single;
Cardstock: SU Basic Black and Glossy White;
Ink: Alcohol Inks and Stazon Jet Black;
Accessories: ODBD 'Grunge Cross' die, black brads, Paper piercer and template, foam tape;
Size: A2.

Check out this "Time With....Angie" post on the ODBD blog for a tutorial on how I stamped and colored this scene from start to finish.

Here is a blurb from the post:
Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share a fun framed scene created with the combination of two sets from Our Daily Bread designs. Since I write a lot of the posts for the ODBD blog, many of you probably know that my favorite adjective when it comes to ODBD stamps is VERSATILE! I love how you can combine sets to create any scene or any theme you like. Today I am using a brand new set, scheduled for the February 1 release, called 'The Mighty Sea" along with the very first ODBD set, "Light of the World".....what a perfect combination!!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Light of the World' and 'The Mighty Sea' (available 2/01/12);

Hi everyone! Welcome to Classics Challenge number three over at the ODBD Forum! Every Tuesday, there is a new card challenge....this week we will revisit a "classic" color challenge from the Christian Paper Crafts era of the forum. The ocean scene and sentiment were stamped in Stazon Jet Black, then colored using sponge daubers and ink pads, plus markers. The ODBD Fence Die cut was wrapped in blue and white baker's twine to bring out the blue in the ocean. The card was embossed with a SU Square Lattice embossing folder.

Sympathy Card in Pink

Happy Monday, everyone! Back to the grind today! Today I'd like to share a sympathy card which I made for my hubby's grandmother, since her brother passed away a few days ago. Her favorite color is pink, so without even knowing what I was going to make, I automatically grabbed some Pink Pirouette cardstock and then checked out some challenges.

This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Linda aka 'Holstein'....yay, Linda! I'm a bit embarrassed because when I chose the card to case, I did not notice that it was a SCS sketch challenge card and not her original design, so the challenge police might come after me...oops! I'm going to post it anyway though, since Linda is so awesome and I just wanted to make sure she receives extra kudos! The reason I chose this gorgeous card was because of the pink, the ribbons, and the embossing....the sketch was just a plus, so there! :)

I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:
The Pink Elephant Challenge: use your favorite color...along with Grandma, my fave color is also pink!;
Crafty Cardmakers: No floral embellishments;
Die Cut Dreams: Sympathy Card;
Stampin Sisters In Christ: Use something new ....the beautiful lace was sent to me by a dear friend...isn't it yummy?!;
ODBD Shining the Light Challenge: WINTER word play...W=white, I=inked, E=embossed, R=ribbon.
